Canadian egg and dairy industries team up to encourage young leadership
OTTAWA, December 9, 2013 – Egg Farmers of Canada and Dairy Farmers of Canada are proud to be joint Visionary Sponsors, again this year, of Forum for Young Canadians.
For a third year in a row the two national organizations are pleased to sponsor an event that brings together hundreds of young students to the Nation’s Capital for a unique experiential program. During their stay in Ottawa, students learn about the Parliamentary process, meet with political leaders and forge new relationships with other young motivated Canadians from across the country.
“It is important for us at Egg Farmers of Canada to be involved in this great cause that offers students a chance to learn about what shapes Canadian policies,” said Tim Lambert, Chief Executive Officer of Egg Farmers of Canada. “The youth of this country are our future and we believe Forum for Young Canadian is a wonderful stepping stone for those who want to pursue a career in the public service.”
Dairy Farmers of Canada and Egg Farmers of Canada will have the opportunity to discuss industry-government relations for policy development with the students, and their leaders will be the keynote speakers at three dinners where Members of Parliament will be invited, in early spring.
“DFC is proud to support and enable Canada’s emerging leaders as they embark on this enriching experience. It is important that today’s youth take a genuine interest in the future of their country and its institutions”, said DFC Executive Director Richard Doyle.
Forum for Young Canadians was created by the Foundation for the Study of Processes of Government in Canada over 35 years ago whose mandate is to foster and promote an understanding among young Canadians of the role and function of Canada’s democratic government, while promoting awareness of the meaning of Canadian citizenship.
