Student Innovation Challenge 2023

Cracking fresh ideas

The Canadian egg industry is vibrant and growing, with egg farmers producing more eggs than ever before and doing so more sustainably. From providing new pathways to become more sustainable, to offering new insights to care for their hens, to exploring medical advancements, evidence-based research is one of the driving pillars of Egg Farmers of Canada and our ambitious plan to grow Canada’s egg farming sector while increasing egg consumption.

To generate innovative research ideas to support our growth journey, EFC is hosting a Canada-wide student challenge. Eligible students at a Canadian post-secondary learning institution are invited to share how their current research project can provide new solutions for egg farmers and the broader egg sector. All eligible students are invited to submit a short video in English or French describing current research in the area of sustainability, hen welfare, economics, human health or any topic that connects with the egg industry in Canada.

Your video, of approximately 5 minutes in length, should describe your research project and its stage of completion. Research projects may be in development, underway or recently completed (within the last year). What is important to us is that your video answers this question: What is your research project that can shape the future of the egg industry in Canada?

Three finalists will be selected and invited to participate in an upcoming EFC event to present their research project. Travel and accommodation (two nights maximum) will be covered by EFC. A winner will be selected at this meeting by a panel of judges. The winner will be awarded $5,000 CAD and the two remaining finalists will receive $2,500 CAD.

The 2023 application period has ended.
